Mount Rainier National Park
March 14, 2009 - It was a blustery day at Paradise for this easy Mountaineers snowshoe trip to Mazama Ridge. The snow on the ground was powdery and easy to hike through, but the views were quashed by clouds and falling snow. As we crested the ridge, the wind became brisk and the falling snow turned hard. After a short break, half of the group started the return trip while the other half opted to explore the ridge but quickly retreated in the face of worsening conditions.
Although the weather was harsh and the views were absent, I enjoyed this outing. It was my first trip to Paradise in the winter, and once we arrived at the new visitor center, I realized that it had been a long time since I had been to Paradise.
